The lovers go by boat to an island to have their fortunes told by a Negress, and Enoch leaves his gun behind in the woods. Their boat is lost in a storm, and they are forced to spend the night on the island. The next day Enoch is arrested for the murder of Cameron, who is found shot near his abandoned gun; but at his trial he remains silent, fearing to compromise Ruth. The girl determines to defy his accusers, but she is saved from exposure by the announcement that little Dave shot Cameron accidentally with Enoch\u0027s gun. Enoch is acquitted, and his marriage to Ruth brings a reconciliation between the families.","wins":0,"nominations":0,"casts":[{"name":"Elaine Hammerstein","code":"nm0358567","characters":"Ruth Baird"},{"name":"Niles Welch","code":"nm0919624","characters":"Enoch Morrison"},{"name":"Jerry Devine","code":"nm0222634","characters":"Dave Hatfield"},{"name":"Rae Allen","code":"nm0020930","characters":"Hester Morrison"},{"name":"James Seeley","code":"nm0781564","characters":"Cosmo Hatfield"},{"name":"Effingham Pinto","code":"nm0684645","characters":"Cameron Hatfield"}],"budget":null,"lifetimeGross":null,"openingWeekendGross":null,"worldwideGross":null,"keywords":[{"text":"tennessee"},{"text":"trial"},{"text":"feud"},{"text":"melodrama"}],"production":[{"id":"co0019842","text":"Selznick Pictures Corporation"}],"prestigiousAwardSummary":null,"moreLikeThisTitles":[]}
